São Paulo – The airports of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, welcomed a record-breaking number of passengers on December 31, on New Year’s Eve. According to data made public this Monday (2) by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), 105,326 people went through the emirate’s airport terminals last Saturday, the single highest figure ever registered in one day.
According to director-general of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai, Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, from December 28 to 31 the number of passengers reached 669,093, with 389,290 arrivals and 288,803 departures.
According to the executive, a special staff team was assigned to speed up the emirate’s entry and exit procedures with the goal of accelerating these processes during the holidays.
He added that the previous planning and coordination between different departments in the airports were crucial to facilitate the arrivals and departures among the heavy traffic.
