São Paulo – The Dubai International Airport has become the world’s busiest, overtaking Heathrow, in the United Kingdom. As of December 22nd, 68.9 million passengers had arrived at the airport, while Heathrow had 67.8 million, according to data released by Airports Council International and published by the United Arab Emirates’s The National newspaper.
The Dubai Airport had its busiest week from December 18th to 24th, with 638,317 arrivals, according to the management company Dubai Airports.
“Given the traffic achieved in the first 11 months, together with some of the busiest days on record in December, we are confident in ending the year above the 70 million mark and confirming our position as the world’s busiest international airport,” said Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths.
