São Paulo – Dubai is going to host the beach soccer world tournament in which Brazil will seek its fourth title. From November 16th to 22nd, the sands of Jumeirah beach will receive 16 teams that will compete for the 2009 championship title.
So far, the Emirates are the only Arab country that has been confirmed as a host to the competition. Latin America, on the other hand, will have three teams in the competition: Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.
Brazil was the champion of the last tournament, and won three back-to-back titles (2006/2007/2008). The country will have its last training session today in Arraial do Cabo, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, before heading to Dubai next Wednesday (11th). The inaugural game for Brazil will be on the first day of the competition. The match will be played against Nigeria.
“We are in the final stages of preparation, making fine tunings. The players are doing great physically and it reflects on more specific drills using the ball. The group is confident, we have had an excellent season," said the national team coach Alexandre Soares.
According to Soares, Arraial do Cabo has provided the team with "the best possible working conditions, and the matches that we have been playing were important for the team to develop a better rapport, so that they may practice new plays. And that is good so that we arrive in Dubai well adjusted."
