Brasília – The Brazilian Central Bank’s Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) presented a decline of 0.61% in January over the previous month. The data is seasonally adjusted. The IBC-Br was released this Monday (14) by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC). In a comparison with the same month of last year, the index dropped 6.70%.
The IBC-Br is a measure to assess the evolution of the Brazilian economic activity. The index takes into account information on the level of activity of three sectors of the economy: industry, trade and agriculture. The official indicator on the economy’s performance is the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), done by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
