Brasília – Economic activity in Brazil dropped 0.63% in October from September in seasonally adjusted numbers. The Brazilian Central Bank’s Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) was released this Friday (18). Year-on-year in October, the index is down 6.19%. Year-to-date through October, it slid 3.66%. In the 12 months leading up to October, the IBC is down 3.16%.
IBC-Br tracks the evolution of Brazilian economic activity on a monthly basis. It incorporates data on activity levels across the three sectors of economy: industry, trade and services, and agriculture. The official economic performance indicator, however, is the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) issued quarterly by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
