Brasília – The Brazilian economy grew by 1.15% in 2018. That’s what says the Index of Economic Activity of the Central Bank (IBC-Br, acronym in Portuguese), published this Friday (15). In the last quarter of the year compared to previous period, the growth stood at 0.20%, according to non-seasonally adjusted data. The fourth quarter compared to the same period in 2017 presented a 1.53% climb.
In December over November of 2018, there was 0.21% growth. In the comparison with the last month of the previous year and December 2018, the growth reached 0.18%.
IBC-Br was created by the Central Bank of Brazil to try to forecast the approximate economic activity. The official indicator is the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), calculated by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
