São Paulo – Eggs exports from Brazil soared 53.5% last year to 18,740 tons, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reported this Monday (11). Revenues amounted to USD 24.1 million, up 43.2% from 2014.
The top destination was the Middle East, particularly the United Arab Emirates. ABPA numbers show the UAE took in 13,770 tons, or 73.4% of total exports. Sales to the entire Middle East stood at 14,220 tons, or 75.8% of overall sales. Brazilian eggs exports to the Middle East increased 56% in 2015 from 2014.
In December, 1,920 tons were exported, down 12.4% from December 2014. Revenues shrank 11% to USD 2.498 million.
