São Paulo – Egypt more than doubled Brazilian beef imports in the first seven months of this year. According to information released by the Brazilian Meat Packers Association (Abrafrigo), the Arab country was the third primary market for the product abroad this year.
From January to July, purchases totaled 78,800 tonnes, up 144% over the same period in 2021. Generated revenue reached USD 301.2 million, with a 152% growth from the first seven months of last year.
Overall, Brazilian beef exports increased 6.25% in July and 20.6% year-to-date in volume. Last month, exports totaled 203,700 tonnes, and from January to July, 1.2 million tonnes. Monthly revenue tallied USD 1.2 billion, up 21.8%, and an accumulated USD 7.4 billion, with an expansion of 46.6%, following better international prices, according to Abrafrigo.

The biggest Brazilian beef market this year has been China, followed by the United States. After Egypt, in third, the fourth international destination for the product was Hong Kong. All these markets, except Hong Kong, increased their purchases in the period. The highest growth percentage, however, was recorded in trade with Egypt.
