São Paulo – Lord International, an Egyptian blades and razors manufacturer, will be at the Private Label expo on the 29th and 30th of this month in São Paulo. The goal is to find new clients in the country, whose market the company has been in since the late 90s.
It makes and sells men’s and women’s razors and blades under proprietary brands Lord, Big Ben, Asco, Silver Star, Racer, Shark, Crown, and Rainbow, besides exporting the product to be sold under other brands.
“We want to expand in Brazil and find new prospective clients,” says export division head Mahmoud Shawky. This will be the company’s first time at this particular trade show.
Shawky says Lord has approximately five clients in Brazil. According to him, the company’s products are sold in Brazil under both proprietary and third-party brands.
Each year, Lord manufactures seven billion blades, 75% of which get shipped to other countries. Brazil and Mexico are the biggest buying countries, says Shawky, while declining to reveal specific numbers. Lord also sells to the United States, Trinidad Tobago, Venezuela, and to several countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Although Brazil is one of his primary markets, Shawky believes sales could increase. “We are planning for it. We want to branch out so we can increase our export volume to Brazil,” he says.
Lord was founded in 1930 and is headquartered in Alexandria. It makes traditional double-edged, single, twin, and triple blades systems, cartridges and disposables, and shaving focused cosmetics. It has a staff of 5,000.
