Rio de Janeiro – Eletrobras will invest around BRL 50 billion (USD 13.61 billion) in the power sector in the next five years, from which a little more than BRL 10 billion (USD 2.72 billion) will be used in the group’s investments already throughout this year. The information was provided this Tuesday (29) by the state-owned company’s president, José da Costa Neto, when attending the international seminar on infrastructure investment Seminário Internacional Destravando os investimentos de infraestrutura no Brasil e na América Latina 2016 – A visão da engenharia, in Rio de Janeiro.
According to Costa Neto, this is the total of investments estimated in the company’s business and management master plan, in the final stages of preparation. The plan should be unveiled in June. “Investment is around BRL 50 billion for the next five years, which results in roughly BRL 10 billion per year. For this year, we could invest even more than that.”
