São Paulo – The Brazilian aircraft manufacturing company Embraer delivered 69 commercial and executive jets in the second quarter of 2010. The company’s buyers during the period included Petro Air, from Libya, which purchased a commercial jet, and a Jordanian company, which bought a Legacy 650. The company disclosed the data in a press release this Friday (8th).
In comparison with 2009, executive aircraft deliveries have increased from 19 to 40, and commercial jet deliveries declined from 35 to 29. By late July, the company’s firm order backlog totalled US$ 15.2 billion, a 5% reduction over the US$ 16 billion recorded in the previous quarter.
In April, May and June, Embraer delivered an E-Jet to Air Moldova, an airline based in the Republic of Moldova, and an E-Jet to France-based Regional, which is Europe’s leading operator of this model of aircraft. Besides, the Poland-based LOT has converted four firm orders for Embraer 175 jets into orders for Embraer 195 models, and the German Lufthansa converted three firm orders for Embraer 190s into orders for Embraer 195s, maintaining its order of 30 jets, of which 21 had been delivered by the end of the first half.
According to the release, in the second quarter of the year, there was an increase in production of Phenom jets, and new programmes were developed. The company delivered its first Phenom 300 to a client in Brazil.
Embraer also delivered its 1,100th unit of the Ipanema model, the world’s only aircraft certified to fly on ethanol fuel. According to the release, the Ipanema was showcased at the country’s leading agricultural fairs in 2010, and offers economy, greater crop yield, and lower environmental impact to growers.
