São Paulo – The firm order backlog of Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer grew US$ 1.6 billion in the third quarter of this year, according to a press release by the organisation. The company ended the month of September with orders of US$ 17.2 billion, the largest volume in its history. Between July and September, the company produced 38 jets for commercial aviation, nine Legacy 600 executive jets and one aircraft for the defence sector, the EMB 120 Brasilia.
The company forecast is for delivery of between 165 and 170 jets before the end of the year. The factory, which is headquartered in the city of São José dos Campos, has already delivered 108 jets since the beginning of the year. There were 85 aircraft for commercial aviation, 21 for executive aviation and two for defence. The aircraft for the military sector delivered in the third quarter of the year was for the Angolan government. In the period, the company delivered its thousandth aircraft in the ERJ 145 family, to Grand China Express.
Embraer signed in the third quarter of this year a contract for the sale of 20 executive jets to European group Air France/KLM. They also sold 20 Embraer 195 aircraft to the Brazilian BRA Transportes Aéreos. BRA was the first Brazilian company to order jets in the Embraer 170/190 family. Embraer has firm orders for 51 aircraft in the ERJ 145 family. The company has already delivered 864 aircraft in this family to date, and 420 of the Embraer 170/190 family, of which 292 have already been delivered.
Among the clients with firm orders from Embraer are companies in China, the United States, Japan, France, South Africa, Australia, Jordan, Canada, Guadalupe, Panama, Finland, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Ecuador and Italy. The Jordanian company that has firm orders with Embraer is Royal Jordanian. The organisation has ordered two Embraer 175 and one Embraer 195. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer has also already sold to Saudi Arabia, Libya and Egypt.
Embraer is the world leader in the production of commercial jets for up to 120 passengers and is also one of the largest Brazilian exporters. The company was established in 1969 and currently has offices, industrial installations and workshops in Brazil, the United States, France, Portugal, China and Singapore. The organisation employs around 24,000 people.
