São Paulo – Embraer had losses of 200,000 Brazilian reals (US$ 114,000) in the third quarter of 2011. According to the company balance sheet, disclosed on Wednesday (02) evening, the company had loses from July to September, as it had to cover high expenses caused by the appreciation of the Brazilian real against the dollar.
If the US currency had not appreciated, Embraer would have had profit of 213 million reals (US$ 122 million) in the period. However, it would have been lower than the profit recorded by the company in the third quarter of 2010: 219.9 million reals (US$ 126 million).
Revenues of the aircraft maker in the quarter totalled 2.265 billion reals (US$ 1.9 billion), 24.4% greater than the 1.820 billion reals (US$ 1 billion) in revenues in the third quarter of 2010. Company revenues in the first nine months of 2011 total 6.19 billion reals (US$ 3.5 billion). Embraer hopes to end the year with revenues of between US$ 5.6 billion and US$ 5.8 billion.
During the third quarter, Embraer delivered 28 commercial and 18 executive aircraft. This year, deliveries have already reached 73 commercial and 49 executive aircraft. From July to September, the company sold ten Embraer 190 commercial aircraft to Kenya Airways, five Embraer 195s to Lufthansa and two Embraer 190s to Gecas, an aircraft leasing company that belongs to General Electric.
