São Paulo – Embraer should participate in Dubai Air Show 2011, the largest event in the aerospace sector in the Middle East, to take place from November 13th to 17th, at Dubai International Airport, in the United Arab Emirates. During the exhibition, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer should promote its commercial and executive jet lines. The company should take to the exhibition its Legacy 650 and Lineage 1000 aircraft, both large aeroplanes.
According to a company press statement, “in the Middle East, Embraer’s footprint has grown steadily, since its first commercial aircraft, an Embraer 170, entered service with Saudi Arabian Airlines in 2005.” In total, 65 E-Jets are operating in the Middle East, operated by nine companies: EgyptAir (Egypt), Gulf Air (Bahrain), Nasair, Saudi Airlines and Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia), Oman Air (Oman), Petro Air and Sirte Oil (Libya) and Jordanian (Jordan).
In 2010 and 2011, the Embraer 170 was the second most operated aircraft in the region, used mainly to adjust route capacity to passenger demand and reduce the excess seats in narrowbody aircraft – those with just one aisle.
Currently, the aircraft maker has orders for two Embraer 175 aircraft in the region, for Oman Air, and another seven Embraer 190, for Nasair. In the sector of executive aviation, in which the company does not disclose the name of its clients, there is also an order for a large Legacy 650 aeroplane for a client in the Emirates. According to Embraer, there are over 30 company aircraft in operation in the region.
Dubai Airshow takes place every two years. In the last edition, in 2009, the event included 890 exhibitors from 47 countries and received almost 53,000 visitors.
