São Paulo – The Environment Unit at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) has just released a computer program that allows farmers to evaluate the possible impact caused by technological innovation they plan to introduce in their properties. This information is on the company Internet page.
According to Embrapa, the program, denominated INOVA-Tec, includes 61 indices in the environmental, social, economic and unexpected occurrences (accidents) areas, among others. The idea is to insert the figures regarding the technology to be installed in the system, allowing the farmer to monitor the several variables that may cause problems.
In this way, the user may previously plan how to overcome possible environmental damage, for example. The advantage is reducing the environmental and social impacts through case-by-case analysis.
"The use of the software reduces the responsibility of the evaluator granting a guide of indices that should be analysed and of the components that may be important in this evaluation, making possible case-by-case analysis and, with this, the use of technology in a way that allows the prevention and mitigation of environmental damage," said the researcher responsible for the project, Katia de Jesus-Hitzchky, according to the Embrapa site.
