São Paulo – The Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) to promote the development of the Amazon region. As established by the agreement, signed on Thursday (7), the bank will loan BRL 33 million (USD 9.14 million) for the use of technologies in the region, put into action by the coordinated actions of Embrapa’s 12 research centers.
The first contract of the agreement, which has a three-and-a-half term, calls for the organization of activities. The project will make available technological solutions developed by Embrapa for the rehabilitation of degraded areas and sustainable use of Amazon’s biome and for the monitoring of deforestations, forest degradation and Amazon’s forest ecosystem services.
