Doha – The emir of Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, is going to make a personal donation of US$ 10 million to a fund to fight poverty, an idea released by Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, last year, during the general assembly of the United Nations (UN).
The announcement will take place during the Second South Summit, a meeting between developing countries that are members of the G-77, taking place in Doha, Qatar. The summit began yesterday and will go on up to Wednesday (16). The creation of mechanisms to fight hunger will be included in the action plan for the meeting. The G-77 is part of the United Nations (UN).
