São Paulo – Next Wednesday (20th) at the United Nations Conference for Sustainable Development (Rio+20), two of the world’s leading oil and natural gas producing and exporting countries, the United Arab Emirates and Norway, will promote a discussion panel about the transition from fossil energy to renewable sources in coming years.
According to the director for Energy and Climate Change at the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Relations, the event will look into how Rio+20 may help balance fossil fuel consumption at a time when demand is on the rise, mostly driven by developing countries, and what circumstances are leading to the transition from hydrocarbons to renewable techniques as sources of energy.
Confirmed attendees include the senior vice president for Climate of the Norwegian oil company Statoil, Hege Marie Norheim, and the CEO of Dubai’s Supreme Council of Energy, Nejib Zaafrani.
