São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates should receive, in two months, equipment for bars and restaurants produced by Metalúrgica Siemsen Ltda., of the city of Brusque, in Santa Catarina. The order was placed in the month of May and should serve for market testing, according to Marcelo Fischer, the trader at Poli General Exportadora e Importadora Ltda., the company responsible for Siemsen sales on the foreign market. If the products have good acceptance, according to Fischer, the importer may operate as a distributor of company products.
Poli General is part of Siemsen group and was established in 1996 to work with company exports and also with products and services made by other sector organisations. The Emirates is the newest importer of Poli General and Siemsen products in the Arab world, although the company already has distributors in Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, also in the region. Products imported by the Emirates are for bars and restaurants, like liquidizers, slicers for cold cuts, juicers and food processors.
Fischer explains that the contact with importers began with an Internet search. The trader also received the name of the current client on a list of importers supplied by the Foreign Trade Department at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. Fischer, however, visited the distributor three times before closing the deal. “I visit all the clients in the region I am responsible for twice a year,” explained the executive.
Currently, the greatest export volume goes to the United States and Venezuela. Apart from the North American market, the company also exports to Latin America, Africa, Israel and Oceania. Fischer said that one of his targets is to boost sales on the Arab market. He believes that the market is promising for Metalúrgica Siemsen products. “Arab businessmen have great faith in Brazil, they are pleased to do business with Brazilian producers,” he said, due to his experience with importers.
Apart from Siemsen products, which are machinery for food processing in bars, restaurants, bakeries and confectioneries, among others, Poli General also exports products like industrial ovens produced by another company. And the organisation is seeking a supplier of chillers. Exports currently represent around 20% of the company’s business. The organisation has a strong brand on the domestic market.
Siemsen produces brands Skymsen and Poli, made at its industrial unit, in Brusque. The company has between 350 and 400 employees and also owns a machining unit in Brusque, on the border with Gaspar.
