São Paulo – Emirates is accepting submissions for a contest for upcoming artistic talents from around the world. The three winning works in the Skywards Future Artists Competition will be printed on the company’s customer loyalty program cards, and their authors will receive US$ 5,000 each. The enrolment deadline is June 25.
The contest aims to make new artists more visible. Applicants may be self-taught artists, art students or experienced artists who haven’t attained fame yet. Submissions will be separated into three categories: photography/digital media; painting/illustration and 3D (sculpture, ceramics and glass). One winning work will be selected in each category to illustrate the company’s customer loyalty program cards: Blue, Silver and Gold.
“As the company continues its global expansion, Emirates, through the Skywards frequent flyer programme, wants to enable talented artists to share their innovative artwork with the rest of the world,” says Brian LaBelle, the senior vice president of the Skywards program, in a statement issued by the company. “Skywards’ members are a vast global community, one that acts as a distinctive virtual platform of its own. The Skywards Future Artists Competition is the perfect link between our diverse Skywards community and new, aspiring artists in the art world,” he says.
In addition to a prize of US$ 5,000 for each winner, the contest will also grant US$ 2,000 to institutions with which artists are linked, when applicable. The works will be shortlisted by a panel of professionals and specialists. Winning works will be selected by customers affiliated with the Skywards program. Winners will be announced in late August this year.
