São Paulo – Endutex Brasil, a maker of synthetic laminates that is based in the city of Três Coroas, in the interior of the southeastern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, sought in Egypt inspiration to create its most recent collection. The company makes laminates in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) that are used as raw material for shoes, accessories, garments, upholstery and decoration products. The Arab country served as a source for the creation of textures, prints and colours that form the products developed by the company for the next spring-summer collection.
The research took place during a trip by fashion consultants Cristina Sant’Anna and Gianna Vianna to the Arab country. They were in Egypt, in mid January, together with a group of representatives of their consultancy company, Strategies. The Red Sea, with its colours, coral reefs and submarine fauna generated theme Admirabilis, translated into the green, blue and turquoise. When varnish is put on the laminate, it gives the impression that water was thrown on the product.
The contrast of the desert with the fertility and colour of the sea caused the consultancy company to create the theme Anima Mundi, which took to the raw materials textures imitating sand and even the dry floor of some parts of the region. Theme Reminiscences was created due to environmental preservation. According to Cristina, the idea was to recall childhood, a time in which, to most people, things were more preserved. In the collection, this was translated into lighter tones, of watercolours, which recall infancy.
Some of the laminates were created based on the luxury of the resorts of Egypt. The theme chosen by the consultants, in this case, was Extravagance, using more intense and opulent colours in the products, as well as moralized material, imitating gold, silver and precious stones. Egypt was chosen by the consultancy company, according to Cristina, because it is one of the great global themes of inspiration for the spring/summer collection.
Investment in fashion is a fact that is more and more common among producers of raw materials for the shoe and accessory sector, one of the sectors in which Endutex operates. Endutex, for example, has been launching its own collections since last year. The company has been producing in Brazil since 1998. It started operating in the country, however, in 1995, through an office. Today, the Brazilian unit has 140 employees and capacity to produce 300,000 metres per month. Apart from Brazil, the company has units in Spain, Poland and Hungary.
