Rio de Janeiro – While GDP growth in Brazil during the first half of 2005 was 3.4%, energy consumption in the country rose 5.4%, when compared to the same period last year (energy consumption rose 4.5% in 2004). The biggest increase in energy consumption this year was in the North, where the growth was 6.2%.
The forecast for GDP growth for the whole of this year is 3.5%, and for energy consumption 5%.
