São Paulo – The deadline for entries to the Zayed Sustainability Prize is next Thursday (30). The accolade is granted on an annual basis by the government of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to sustainable projects in five categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, and Global High Schools.
The latter is granted to one school in each of the following regions: the Americas, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa, Europe & Central Asia, South Asia, and East Asia & Pacific.
Schools can submit students’ sustainability-oriented project to get funding to roll out or improve their plans. Brazilian schools have been in the finals in past editions.
Projects with demonstrable impact in Health, Food, Energy or Water from small and medium businesses or non-profit organizations are also eligible.
Last month, the Consulate of the UAE to São Paulo hosted an event at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo, to publicize in-depth information on the Prize.
Cash prizes amount to a combined USD 3 million, with each USD 600,000 doled out in each category. Each winning school gets USD 100,000.
Entries will be accepted by 6pm, EST on the 30th.
The award ceremony will take place in January, during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
