Rio de Janeiro – Rio de Janeiro state’s Secretariat for the Environment is taking the Fábrica Verde (Green Factory) project to the International Fair of Luanda, in the capital of Angola, due from Friday (31st) until Sunday (2nd). A commission from Brazil is in Luanda to internationalize the project, which attracted the interest of an environmental delegation from Luanda visiting Rio de Janeiro approximately one-and-a-half month ago.
To the secretariat’s superintendent for Territory and Citizenship Ingrid Gerolimich, the project’s internationalization is the first of its kind, and it is a crucial action. “The idea of our green projects is to make them into public policies, examples for the building of sustainable cities. It is a new of thinking. The fact that we are beginning with Angola is a source of great pride, because it is a country that is developing at full tilt. It is great to be able to take part in this historical project,” she said.
Fábrica Verde started being developed in August 2011 and is the main program of the Secretariat for Environment of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The project, which has units in Rocinha, in southern Rio, and no Complexo do Alemão, in the northern part of the city, aims to recycle used computers in order to promote the digital inclusion of youths and adults in impoverished communities in Rio de Janeiro.
