Vitória – The governor of the state of Espírito Santo, Paulo Hartung, said today (15th) that gas production in his state should double within a short period of time. According to him, the state currently produces 8 million cubic metres of gas. The output is expected to rise from 14 million to 16 million cubic metres over the next few years.
Factors that should contribute to an increase in the state’s gas production include the entry into operation of the gas transport system between the Capixaba rig, which started producing oil in the pre-salt layer at the Baleia Franca field, and the coast of Espírito Santo, approximately 80 kilometres apart from each other. The connection between the rig’s pipeline and onshore ones should be concluded by September this year.
“This is a new wealth that may help our state a lot. Our state has been left out of national development for decades, and now it is experiencing a good moment,” said Hartung.
In addition to increasing its gas production, said the governor, in the future, the state will have a gas-chemical hub, in Cacimbas, that will manufacture raw material for the chemical industry.
