São Paulo – Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways has new headquarters in São Paulo. Formerly based on Avenida Paulista, the airline has moved into a building in the Vila Nova Conceição district, in the city’s South Side. In a statement released this Thursday (15th), Etihad claims it relied on real estate consulting firm JLL as a partner in searching for the new place.
According to the airline, JLL assisted in selecting the new offices, considering clients’ profiles, the quality of facilities for the staff, and ease of access.
Etihad’s CEO in Brazil, Christophe Didier, said the “high-end” products offered by the company are bound to attract ever more customers to destinations in the Middle East, Asia and Oceania. Besides Didier, the senior vice president for the Americas, Geert Boven, travelled to Brazil for the inauguration.
On opening its new facilities, the airline presented awards to the best-performing travel agencies doing business with Etihad in 2014. Each agency won a ticket to Abu Dhabi. The winning agencies were Rextur-Advance, Transpac, Sakura, Esferatur, Grupo Flytour, Decolar, Gapnet, Princess Travel, CWT and Hallelujah. Didier said the airline takes “deep satisfaction” in acknowledging the ongoing support of these agencies.
Etihad flies between São Paulo and Abu Dhabi since June 2013. In the second half of that same year, the route went daily.
Since then, the company has secured a growing foothold in South America via codeshare agreements with Brazil’s Gol and Aerolíneas Argentinas, and interline agreements with TAM and Azul, both of which are Brazilian-based. This type of deal enables passengers to book combined tickets for flights by both companies, and often translates into lower prices and greater destination options for customers.
