São Paulo – In a bid to showcase its culture and preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar has organized an exhibition in São Paulo. The Qatar Exhibition, at Shopping JK Iguatemi mall features photographs taken in Qatar, collector’s items like national team cleats from around the world and jerseys signed by players including Pelé, of Brazil.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), which is in charge of infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar, is organizing the exhibit, which will open daily from 10am to 10pm. This Friday (21), in the exhibition area, former player Cafu was officially named Supreme Committee Ambassador.
The showing also celebrates Qatar’s joining of CONMEBOL America Cup. It opened on the day the Qatari team made its CONMEBOL debut match. The reigning Asian champion, Qatar was invited to join the American tournament along with Japan.
The exhibition traces back FIFA World Cup history around the world since its first edition in Uruguay, 1930, featuring texts and memorabilia such as jerseys signed by players including Pelé, of Brazil, and cleats.
Also featured are photographs that portray soccer culture in Qatar; replicas of the eight stadiums that will host Qatari team matches in 2022; and details regarding Qatar’s AFC Asian Cup win. Much of the memorabilia is owned by Qatari collector Mohammed Abdulatif, includign jerseys, soccer balls, game tickets and much more.
