Brasília – Brazilians spent US$ 1.741 billion on international trips in January, the holiday period, according to figures disclosed by the Central Bank and disclosed today (23). Expenses of foreigners with trips to Brazil reached US$ 595 million, against US$ 566 million in January 2010. Thus, the international travel bill, which registers the expenses of Brazilians abroad and the expenses of foreigners in Brazil, resulted in a deficit of US$ 1.146 billion, in January this year, against a negative balance of US$ 651 million in the same period in 2010.
International travels are in the service bill, which also registers expenses and revenues with transportation. This balance resulted in a deficit of US$ 423 million in January, against US$ 289 million in the same month last year. In the case of equipment rent, the negative balance was US$ 1.062 billion, against US$ 874 million in the same period in 2010.
