São Paulo – The government of Dubai, United Arab Emirates announced that it will make Covid-19 vaccines available to official delegates from the countries set to join Expo 2020 Dubai. THe vaccination is intended to ensure a safe experience to all attendees – the in-person event is slated to run from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Expo 2020 will be the first world exhibition ever held in a Middle East country. Originally slated for last year, it has been postponed as a result of the pandemic.
The decision to vaccinate the delegates was made during a meeting of the Dubai Executive Council. It was made public by the Dubai Media Office on Wednesday (7). Dubai crown prince and Council chair Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also announced that an online platform will enable remote access to people around the world.
The expo will be themed “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” with subthemes including Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability. The Dubai crown prince said this will be the most sustainable edition of the show to date in its 160-year history, and that the use of advanced infrastructure technology will provide global participants with a glimpse into the smart city of the future.
Maktoum argued that the event will create opportunities to fast-track post-Covid-19 economic recovery. “In October, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates will open their arms to the whole world for new horizons of constructive global cooperation,” he was quoted as saying in a Dubai Media Office press release.
Decisions made during the meeting include a Food Security Strategy, an Emergency Medical Services Strategy, and a Comprehensive Flexible Mobility Plan for Dubai.
