São Paulo – The Brazilian graphic arts industry will be participating in the Brazilian week in Dubai, through an export alliance with Graphia – Graphic Arts Industry Alliance. Started in 2003, the alliance is made up of 40 industries that are members of the Brazilian Association of the Graphic Industry (Abigraf), and operate in the areas of stationery, packages, promotional printing, and editorials.
"We are going to make the first step into the Arab market. A market I consider very interesting," states Dário Andréa Jordani, administrator of the export program. "We have good prices, quality, and creativity," he guarantees.
According to Jordani, the technology invested in the sector in recent years guarantees quality similar to that of first world countries like Japan, Germany, and the United States. "Not to mention that Brazil offers lower prices and an excellent creative differential," he completes.
"There are some Arab market demands that we may supply," believes the export program administrator. Graphia hopes to close contracts for over US$ 1 million during the Brazilian Week & Trade Exhibition to take place in Dubai between December 7 and 9, and is the first international event the group will participate in.
The fair is promoted by the Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade Ministry, the Export Promotion Agency (Apex) and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB).
Modernization
With recent investment of over US$ 6 billion, the Brazilian graphic arts industry stands out for the modernization and size increase of its industrial park, and occupies a privileged place on the world scenery.
Sector annual revenue is US$ 5.5 billion, representing around 1% of the Brazilian GDP, and will, for the first time, have a trade balance surplus, expecting to end 2003 at US$ 120 million.
Export increase
Graphia, including 40 Brazilian stationery, packaging, promotional printing, and editorial companies associated to Abigraf, started operating this year.
The organization counts on support from Apex, in internationalization, and from the São Paulo state Support Service to the Small Business (Sebrae-SP), in training, from the shop floor to logistics and tax areas.
Jordani explains that the synergy resulting from this association permits Graphia to offer a highly trained and customized attention structure, joining the know-how and technology necessary for the production of a variety of products with internationally competitive quality standards.
Graphia offers services that go from planning, pre-press, and material distribution, to projects that require special resources.
"We have flexibility, competitive cost, advanced technology, speed, and quality in graphic arts solutions," explains Jordani. He goes on to say that the various segments in the stationery area include theme material, tri-dimensional cards, party articles, one-way products, organizers, accessories, copybooks, diaries, envelopes, and forms.
In the promotional area, Graphia is ready to prepare creative and different solutions through services that add value to the printed material. "We have the possibility of making ideas viable, creating innovative projects, and varied demands, ranging from small to large production, in any area of the world," he guarantees.
In these few months of existence, Graphia has already exported 25 40-ton containers to the Caribbean, and is beginning to send price estimates to Europe, the United States, and Mexico.
Quality standard
The high level of technological updating and Brazilian company purchase of new graphic arts equipment, which is around two years old in pre-press, and less than five years old in the printing area, is added to the high professional qualification developed in the country.
Brazil is one of the few countries possessing the Print Media Academy (PMA). This is an advanced professional training center established by German company Heidelberg, recycling and training specialized workforce.
The country is prominent as one of the largest world producers of paper and cellulose, guaranteeing supply on the domestic market. In the environment area, the country counts on a policy that was established under a rigorous set of standards for wood consumption and reforesting.
