São Paulo – Exports by the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais have already surpassed by more than US$ 1 billion, in an eleven-month period, the total for last year. The accumulated result of exports from January to November this year has reached US$ 16.8 billion, against US$ 15.6 billion in the whole of last year. The data was disclosed in the Website of the government of the state of Minas Gerais.
The state secretary of Economic Development, Marcio de Lacerda, claims that, should the average growth recorded over the last months be maintained, then the State should end the year with total sales of approximately US$ 18 billion.
In November, exports by the state of Minas stood at US$ 1.6 billion, 13.8% greater than in the same month of last year. From January to November, average expansion was 17.7% in comparison with the same period of 2006. The strong pace owes itself to mineral and metallurgical products. This year, China has become the leading market for products from the state of Minas, surpassing the United States.
