São Paulo – Brazilian exports of plastic resins grew 10.35% in the month of March compared with February this year, having totalled 70,000 tonnes. The information was disclosed by the press office at the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (Abiquim).
Imports of thermoplastic resins, on the other hand, decreased 3.8%, totalling 88,100 tonnes. Domestic sales of the product increased 7.75% in March compared with February, reaching 290,600 tonnes.
National production of thermoplastic resins, which stood at 377,000 tonnes, saw a reduction of 2.79%, using the same basis for comparison. From January to March, production totalled approximately 1.2 million tonnes, virtually the same volume as recorded in the same period in 2007.
Domestic sales totalled 852,700 tonnes during that period, growth of 2.73% over the same months in 2007, and exports reached 206,100 tonnes, increase of 34.37%. Imports, which totalled 259,000 tonnes, increased 54.1% using the same basis for comparison.
