Rio de Janeiro – Factory-gate inflation measured by the Producer Price Index (IPP) was 0.1% in October of this year, standing below the 0.47% of last September and the 1.77% of October 2015. The data was made public this Tuesday (29) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Year-to-date, the IPP has a deflation (price decrease) of 0.36%, with the year-over-year index at 1.13%.
In October, there was inflation in three of the four major economic categories. The highest price raise was registered in semi-finished and non-durable goods (1.3%). Consumer durables had an inflation rate of 0.13%. Capital goods, that is, machinery and equipment, saw a slight increase at 0.01%.
