São Paulo – Five Arab countries should show and sell their handicraft at the 15th edition of the International Handicraft Fair (Fiart), in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Artisans from Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Syria are going to set up their stands between the 22nd and 31st at the Convention Centre in the capital of the state, alongside products from another 12 countries.
The programme includes shows, cultural exhibits, performances, traditional June party dances and gastronomy, among other attractions.
This year, the exhibit should include 350 stands, bringing together a total of 1,200 exhibitors. The organizers hope to receive around 70,000 visitors over the 10 days of the fair. In 2009, Fiart had a turnover of 10 million Brazilian reals (US$ 5.7 million) with the sale of the products shown.
The new edition also includes Mercado Fiart, a partnership with the State Secretariat of Agriculture, for exhibition and trade of several regional products, most from family farming, like goat cheese, honey and jerky.
Apart from the Arab countries, other nations to be present at Fiart are: Brazil, Kenya, Turkey, Peru, Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bolivia, India, South Africa, Cuba and Guatemala.
