Brasília – Economic activity is in decline for 14 consecutive months. The Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) registered a decline of 29% in February of this year in comparison to the previous month, according to seasonally adjusted data. The numbers were released this Friday (22) by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC).
In comparison with the same month of last year, there was a 4.54% decline in the non-adjusted data since the comparison was made between equal periods. In the year’s first two months, against the same period of 2015, there was a 6.14% decline. Year-to-year ended in February, the decline reached 4.63% (non-adjusted data).
The IBC-Br is a measurement of the evolution of the Brazilian economic activity. But the official indicator of performance for the economy is the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), measured by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
