São Paulo – The government of Brasília, the Brazilian federal district, announced this Tuesday that the governor Agnelo Queiroz has just visited Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, as part of an international mission also covering Singapore, China, Germany, and Italy. According to a statement, the intention was to see hotel works, shopping and leisure centres, and sports infrastructure.
According to the statement, Queiroz stated that, like Brasília, Dubai is a city which has been “erected on nothing,” and that it “may contribute good ideas to the economic development of Brazil’s federal district.” He added that as the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup draw nearer, the Brazilian capital needs to be ready to receive “a large number of tourists.”
The statement mentions visits to the Atlantis hotel, in Palm Jumeirah, a palm tree-shaped artificial island, and to the emirate’s metro. In addition to seeing solutions that may be applied to the federal district, the mission aims to promote investment opportunities in Brasília.
