São Paulo – After growing in northeastern Brazil, company Aramita, from Bahia, is now turning to the foreign market. More specifically to the Middle East and Asia. In April, company executives should travel to the United Arab Emirates, China and Hong Kong. The objective is to prospect novelties in the sector in these countries and, of course, to sign agreements for partnerships and exports.
"We want to bring ideas here, to analyse opportunities and, who knows, to close deals and joint-ventures with companies in these countries," explained the commercial director at Aramita, Eduardo de Sá da Costa. In China, participation is forecasted in a fair in the sector. In Hong Kong and Dubai, the plan is to go around and make contacts. "We are getting ready to negotiate with the Asians and Arabs," he said.
Currently, the company exports to Angola. "We made contact with an Angolan company at Rio Oil&Gas, in Rio de Janeiro," said Costa. "We showed our products there in 2009 and this year. And the idea is to export more," he explained.
In the domestic market, Aramita has seen sales grow mainly due to the expansion of civil construction. "Fences for construction sites answer to 60% of our revenues," said Costa. Another of the company’s main areas of operation is fences for industries as a whole, which answer to 20% of company revenues.
Aramita currently produces 100 tonnes a month of wire mesh and fences, distributing another 50 tonnes of products in partnership with Belgo Cercas e Cia, a chain of shops specialized in fencing. "We have a license for use of the Belgo brand in Bahia, we are the only ones that may sell their products here," explained Costa.
Established in 1970, Aramita has 80 employees distributed in two factories, one in Salvador and another in Feira de Santana, in the interior of Bahia, as well as a showroom in Lauro de Freitas, on the North shore of the state. In future, apart from investing in the foreign market, the company plans to open new production units. "We will have factories in Porto Seguro, Juazeiro and one more in western Bahia," said Costa. "The plan is to corner the market in the state, being present in all regions, before competitors do that," he said. If it is up to the executive, apart from the market in Bahia, he will soon be present in the Arab and Asian markets too.
