São Paulo – Brazilian fertilizer production increased by 13.9% between January and August this year compared with the same period last year. Up until the eighth month of the year, 6.04 million tonnes of intermediate fertilizers – the type that is used in manufacturing the end product – were produced. In August alone, the output increased by 11.9% compared with the same month last year, and reached 867,000 tonnes.
Fertilizer sales on the Brazilian market have also grown. From January to August, 13.5 million tonnes were delivered to end consumers, representing growth of 2.4%.In August alone, sales increased by 5.4% and totalled 2.7 million tonnes. In the first eight months this year, imports increased by 41.6%, having reached 8.8 million tonnes. In August alone, imports dropped by 2.7% and reached 1.6 million tonnes.
