São Paulo – Aircraft maker Embraer has delivered the first Legacy 650 executive jet in the large category in the Middle East, to charter company Arab Wings, from Jordan. The delivery was made on Friday (3), at the Brazilian company’s offices in São José dos Campos.
Arab Wings already flies one Legacy 600 in Jordan, which has the lower reach than the new model. With the Legacy 650, the company may fly up to 7,223 kilometres, non-stop, with four passengers, or 7,112 kilometres with eight passengers. According to Embraer, the new model is ideal for long-distance flights.
This expansion in reach, according to the company, was obtained through modification in the structure of the jet, including the wings, landing carriage, greater fuel capacity and more powerful Rolls-Royce turbines.
"We are honoured to be the first operator in the Middle East region to operate this exciting new aircraft," said Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh, CEO of Arab Wings, in an Embraer press statement. "Following the great success we’ve enjoyed with the Legacy 600 in our fleet, this Legacy 650 is a natural complement, enabling us to offer longer, nonstop flights," he said.
Embraer has a tradition of selling to companies installed in Arab countries, with aircraft flying in the skies of nations like Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, among others.
