Brasília – Foreign Direct Investment in Brazil has exceeded Central Bank of Brazil (BC) estimates and reached record figures in July, according to figures disclosed on Tuesday (23). Last month, they reached US$ 5.971 billion, above the projected US$ 4 billion. The result from January to July, of US$ 38.448 billion, was the highest recorded by the BC for the period.
According to the head of the economic department at the BC, Tulio Maciel, the higher than expected result in July occurred due to an operation in the beverage sector, “for a very high value”.
In August, up to today, the foreign direct investment is US$ 3.6 billion and BC projections for the month is US$ 4.2 billion.
