São Paulo – Vehicle exports by automakers in Brazil broke a record year-to-date through July this year at roughly 439,600 units sold, up 55.3% from the year-ago period. It was the best result on record for the industry during the period, the National Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea) reported this Friday (4).
July-only exports amounted to approximately 65,700 units, another all-time best and up 42.5% from July 2016, but down 2.4% from June.
Revenue-wise, the July result was up 46.8% year-on-year to USD 1,384 billion – the figure also includes agricultural machinery, parts and services sales. The amount is up 1.3% from June.
Year-to-date through July, USD 8.792 billion worth of autos were exported, up 52% year-on-year.
The good export results drove overall industry results, with output reaching 1.488 million vehicles through July, up 22.4% from January to July 2016.
In July alone, output stood at roughly 224,700 vehicles, up 17.9% from July 2016 and 5.9% from June 2017.
The domestic market continues to recover, albeit slowly. July saw approximately 184,800 vehicles sold in Brazil, up 1.9% year-on-year, but down 5.2% from June 2017. Year-to-date, 1.2 million units were sold in Brazil, up 3.4% from the year-ago period.
