São Paulo – The Foz do Iguaçu National Park received 368,292 foreign visitors from January to July this year, according to an International Tourism Demand survey disclosed by the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism. The figure represents a 4.36% increase over the same period of 2010.
The most expressive increase in number of foreign visitors was detected among Peruvians, at 156.9%; and among the Japanese, at 61.6%. The number of Chinese visitors grew by 28.9%, and the number of Colombians, by 23.7%.
However, Argentina remains the main source of foreign tourists, at 154,349 from January to July, followed by Paraguay, at 21,118 visitors. Europeans from France, Germany, England and Italy had a combined total of 61,409 visitors.
Foz do Iguaçu, in the state of Paraná, is the second most visited Brazilian tourist destination by foreigners, after Rio de Janeiro.
