São Paulo – Foreign tourists spent a record USD 7.865 billion in Brazil in 2025, a 7.1% increase over 2024, according to data released this Monday (26) by the Central Bank. Last year, Brazil also set a record by welcoming 9.3 million international tourists, a 37.1% increase compared to 2024.
In a statement, the Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur) claims that this growth in tourist numbers and spending consolidates the country as a competitive and desirable destination. The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, said that tourism represents a strategic and growing “pillar” of the economy, contributing approximately 8% of Brazil’s gross domestic product.
“The country is experiencing an unprecedented moment, with the highest volume of international arrivals and spending ever recorded. The results prove the efficiency of a strategy-based management that has repositioned Brazil globally,” said Freixo, highlighting that the sector contributes to job creation and the development of small businesses.
