Rio de Janeiro is in second place among the cities in which foreigners spent most during the sports event, with an average of R$ 2,660 (US$ 1,193). Recife came in third, with R$ 1,500 (US$ 673), and Salvador, in fourth, with R$ 1,190 (US$ 534). Spending includes hospitality, transportation and food. Expenses with air fares and tickets were not considered.
