São Paulo – Fortaleza was the city in which foreign tourists spent most during the Confederations Cup. On average, supporters from abroad spent R$ 2,700 (US$ 1,211) a person during their stay, according to figures disclosed on Friday (19) by the Ministry of Tourism, according to a study by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe).
Rio de Janeiro is in second place among the cities in which foreigners spent most during the sports event, with an average of R$ 2,660 (US$ 1,193). Recife came in third, with R$ 1,500 (US$ 673), and Salvador, in fourth, with R$ 1,190 (US$ 534). Spending includes hospitality, transportation and food. Expenses with air fares and tickets were not considered.
