Brasília – Brazilian trade balance ended February with the second-best surplus for the month since the beginning of the survey’s historical series, in 1989. Last month, the country sold USD 3.673 billion more than it bought from abroad, according to the Secretary of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economy.
The previous record of the trade balance in February months was registered in 2017, when the surplus reached USD 4.555 billion. According to the Ministry of Economy, the trade balance registered a surplus of USD 2.999 billion in February last year.
Exports reached USD 16.293 billion last month, a 15.8% decrease over February of 2018 by the daily average criteria. Imports reached USD 14.411 billion a 21.2% decrease in the same comparison, also by the daily average criteria. Surplus grew because imports decreased more than exports.
