Brasília – The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations will grant scholarships to foreigners enrolled in undergraduate courses in Brazil who are engaged in the Student Program – Undergraduate Agreement (Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Graduação – PEC-G) and who show either outstanding academic performance or financial need.
According to a decree published this Wednesday (21st) in the Official Gazette , the grant will be 622 Brazilian reals (US$ 341) per month, for six months, and subject to renewal. The PEC-G offers higher education opportunities to citizens from developing countries with which Brazil maintains educational and cultural agreements. The previous value of the scholarship was 545 reals (US$ 299).
Developed by the ministries of Foreign Relations and Education in partnership with public and private universities, the PEC-G selecs foreigners aged 18 to 25 who have completed their secondary education to undertake undergraduate studies in Brazil.
The foreign students selected undertake their undergraduate studies free of charge. The Ministry of Foreign Relations issues a public notice every six months so students may submit their scholarship bids. Incentive to merit scholarships may also be granted to students whose academic performance was outstanding after having studied in Brazil for at least two semesters.
