São Paulo – Brazil and France have "the same worries" in many points of international diplomacy, stated the foreign relations minister, Celso Amorim, yesterday (04). The declaration was made after the meeting minister Amorim had with French foreign relations minister, Dominique de Villepin, who is visiting Brazilian capital Brasília.
Minister Villepin stated his support for Brazil to become a permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council. He also said that France is still favourable to a trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur, the Common Market of the South, a customs union between Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
According to the Brazilian minister, both countries believe in "multilateralism", in the "sovereignty of the UN" and in a "pacific solution to conflicts."
