São Paulo – The revenues in the Brazilian franchises sector increased by 13% last year and reached R$ 35 billion, the equivalent to US$ 16,3 billion in current exchange rates, according to a study carried out by the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) in partnership with Grupo Cherto.
The number of chains went from 814 in 2004 to 971 in 2005. There was also an increase in franchised units, which went from 59,000 to more than 61,400. The sector generated 22,000 new work posts and currently employs a total 553,000 people.
