São Paulo – Frigol, the meat processing company based in Lençóis Paulista, 289 km from São Paulo, chose Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, as the location of its first international office. The announcement was made this Friday (4). Iin a statement, general manager Dorival Jr, said that the goal of the new branch is to serve the Middle East region, where the demand for Brazilian beef has seen an increase.
“We chose Dubai due to logistic reasons”, said the executive in the statement. Currently, exports account to 20% of the company’s output. Frigol’s portfolio includes higher added value products, which have been in greater demand in the region where the new office will be. The strengthening of the emirate’s economy with its 2.2 million people also played a role in its choice as a location by the company.
Nearly 20% of Brazilian beef export revenues come from the Arab countries, with Egypt being one of the main buyers, as well as Saudi Arabia and the UAE. From January to September, Brazilian companies had USD 836.87 million worth of revenues from beef sales to the region, an increase of 5.6% over the first ten months of last year, according to data from the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) compiled by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
“Our growth estimate for foreign sales in the next few years is really aggressive. The Middle East, Asia and Europe are our main targets. Frigol’s proposal is to work even more with value-added and high-quality products, since these destinations demand this type of product”, said Dorival Jr in the statement.
Frigol processes more than 180,000 tons of beef and pork per year and exports to more than 60 countries, in addition to supplying the domestic market.
