Furniture maker BRV was born turned to export and sells to small Arab importers
The industry from the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul took the opposite route from most companies: the company opened the doors of foreign trade before turning to the domestic market. What motivated BRV to appear as an exporter was the discovery of a sector that has, up to now, been little explored by the national factories: small retailers and international distributors. The Arabs purchase between 8% and 10% of production, but this volume should double by May 2005.
